The Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookie

This is the perfect recipe for a chewy chocolate chip cookie (just the way I like it). Half shortening is the secret to a good shape, along with the ice cream scoop instead of a spoon. Everybody loves chocolate chip cookies! Enjoy!

Ingredients:
2¼ cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
½ cup butter
½ cup shortening
¾ cup sugar
¾ cup brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs
1¼ cup mini chocolate chips

Directions:

Heat oven to 375˚F. In a small bowl combine flour, baking soda, and salt then set aside. Beat butter, shortening, both sugar, and vanilla together with an electric mixer. Scrape sides with a rubber spatula. Add eggs one at a time and beat well after each addition. Scrape sides again. Slowly add flour mixture while mixer is on a low speed (about ¼ cup at a time). Stir in chips. Using a small ice cream scoop place cookies about 2 inches apart on a cookie sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown. As you take them out of the oven tap the sheet lightly on a counter or stove. Let the cookies cool on the sheet for 1-2 minutes, then move them to a wire rack.
