Pink Heart Cupcakes

So I'm not the best photographer but I love the idea of chocolate decorations! Pink vanilla cupcakes, cream cheese frosting, and chocolate hearts ... so cute for Valentine's Day! Enjoy!


Ingredients:
Cupcakes
cups flour
1 cup sugar
2 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
½ cup shortening
cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs 
Pink food color (preferably gel)
Frosting
8 oz cream cheese
1 stick of butter
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:


Heat oven to 350˚F Mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add shortening and mix until evenly distributed. Add half milk and beat for about 2 minutes. Add remaining milk, eggs, and vanilla. Beat for 2 minutes. Beat in enough food coloring until desired color is achieved. Fill mini cupcake papers about ⅔ full and bake for 7-10 minutes. 
Beat cream cheese until fluffy. Slowly add butter and beat until smooth. Add powdered sugar and beat until smooth. Mix in vanilla. 
Pipe frosting on each cupcake as desired. Melt about ¼ cup of chocolate (chips or bar) until smooth and put in a small pastry bag. Pipe heart shapes onto wax paper and refrigerate until set. Remove hearts and place one on each cupcake.
